Safeguarding the wellbeing of everyone I work with, and anyone connected to them, is something I take seriously. This page explains my approach.

My commitment

As a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I work within the BACP Ethical Framework, which sets out clear expectations around protecting children and vulnerable adults from harm.

If a safeguarding concern arises

If, during our work together, I become concerned that you, or someone else, may be at risk of serious harm, I have a professional responsibility to act. This might involve:

  • Discussing my concerns with you directly, wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so
  • Seeking guidance from my clinical supervisor, without identifying you
  • Contacting relevant services, such as social services, the police, or emergency services, if there is a serious and immediate risk

Wherever possible, I will talk this through with you first. This approach is explained in more detail in our Confidentiality Policy.

If you are worried about someone else

If you are concerned about the immediate safety of a child or vulnerable adult, you can contact the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000, or your local authority’s children’s or adult social care team. In an emergency, always call 999.

If you need urgent support

Counselling sessions are not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, please see our Crisis Support page for immediate help.
